Meet Martha McDowell
Director of Children and Family Ministries

Martha McDowell is grateful for God call to serve at TABC in family and children’s ministry. Martha grew up in Napa and her spiritual roots were formed and developed in the nurturing environment of Napa First Baptist church where she accepted the Lord and was baptized at age 10. Martha is a graduate of Linfield College and served as a volunteer and lay leader in children’s and music ministry after college while beginning her career in adult education. In 1980, she founded and directed the Positive Parenting minstry, an educational support group for moms and their children, which opened doors to a career in parent education through the Hayward School district. She has presented parent education workshops to church and community groups, and at various regional conferences..
God called Martha into professional ministry in 1994 and she served as Director of Children’s Ministry in churches in Castro Valley, Brentwood and El Sobrante. She has a passion for reaching children and families with God’s word, and facilitating a personal application of spiritual truths through creative arts, interactive learning and a loving and safe environment. As a proponent of the team concept of ministry, ongoing training and encouragement of others willing to serve is a vital component of her ministry. She has been a presenter at the BASS convention for 8 years in the children’s ministry track. Martha’s family includes a son, his fiancee, a married daughter, a most precious granddaughter, Piper, and her cat. She enjoys participating in community musical theatre on stage as well as off stage as musical director. She currently works in the President’s Office of California College of the Arts as Manager of Board Administration.
9:30am - Children’s Christian growth classes for preschool through 6th grade. Nursery available.
10:30am - Children in K-6th grade attend the beginning of the worship service with their family and then go with their leader to children’s church. Preschool classes are also offered. Nursery available.
